Interior design Minarc
Designed by Minarc, the Icelandic architectural duo who also worked on the sister Ion Adventure property, the hotel is a proud showcase of national themes and design, with interiors that make clever references to all things Icelandic. The lobby, for example, imitates the countryside with a real birch tree behind the reception desk and a custom-designed “bird’s nest” light hanging from the ceiling.
Architecture The weft of Reykjavik
augmented by walls featuring a motif inspired by traditional Icelandic weaving. Indeed, tradition is at the heart of Ion City’s architectural thinking as the hotel immerses guests in the city, inviting them to look outward at the environment around them.

Design
Erla Dögg Ingjaldsdóttir and Tryggvi Thorsteinsson’s award-winning studio derives inspiration from the unassuming, almost austere beauty and otherworldly natural features of their native Iceland—the land of fire and ice.
