Built in the late 1800s, the Haussmann-esque building is set on Place Darcy, one of Dijon’s most beautiful squares.

Edmond Goisset originally opened his luxury hotel in the very heart of “modern” Dijon. In 1902, the next owner Louis Gorges brought the hotel to a new level of fame, attracting a number of internationally celebrated artists such as Joan Baez, Joe Cocker, and Jean Reno. After careful restoration, Vertigo is certain to reinstate the building’s renown.

With a clear black-and-white color scheme, Vertigo’s 42 rooms are full of little surprises...

suspended beds, a mirror-media-entertainment-system, a wardrobe door-turned-bathroom-mirror, and numerous welcome gifts. The rooms beguile with lighting by Hervé Langlais, coffee tables by Maria Jeglinska, and selected Ligne Roset pieces. In the Embassy bar—a city favorite—you’ll find an original decorative ceiling, gilded frames, chandeliers, and modern furniture.
