The old Speicherstadt ("warehouse district") has the feel of a metropolitan Venice, the Landungsbrücken ("Jetties") have a scent of adventure and wanderlust about them. Hamburg is currently redeveloping a large area of disused docks, the HafenCity. This will expand the city centre by 40 percent and change the face of Hamburg dramatically.
